Or is it just a Florida thing? Some here are down right nasty when you say "no thank you", "no thank you"......
Yea! I've seen it....I thought maybe it was just me. Here in Atlanta, we would get someone coming by maybe once every few months, now it's like 3 times a week. And they won't take a polite, no thank you for an answer, they'll just keep up with their sales pitch, so I just end up closing the door on them.....it's like....what part of "NO" don't they understand?
I had a guy just the other day trying to sell me doors & windows, when I said "no thank you" he wanted to know why? Wanted to know why? Excuse me but thats none of their business, why. And when I told him that, he called me a "jerk" and walked away. I would have called the company to complain but I didn't even know what company he worked for. I think some of these companies that use to call on the phone are realizing that people just hang up or don't answer, so now their sending people out.
Our police said on the TV that if you see a door to door sales person; call them to check the person and their business out.
The police said better safe than sorry; and help them stop the Gypsy Scammers; the reason being too many Gyspsy scam teams hitting our city.
The scammers have many scams, most involved house repair; they take deposits, maybe do some demolition and leave it like that or maybe they do a very very poor job and then leave.
While some others have to do with magazine sales.
And some have to do with robbing mailboxes while they go door to door pretending to sell something, (they are compileing identity thieft informations from those mailboxes).
Our weather here is still a bit wintry, so we haven't had those door 2 door people, not yet anyways.
I'm not surprised though with them getting more pushy, with the economy the way it is, and probably more of these guys have been laid-off their normal jobs and are doing this kind of work just to get by. They have no idea what customer service or being polite means.
I live in Oklahoma. We need to get a new roof on our house, so we're constantly having men come by offering their business to fix it. We keep telling them no, but its like they drive through the neighborhoods looking for bad roofs and then stopping. Also during the summer we get mowers wanting to mow our lawn. It does get frustrating, especially when i'm home alone. I don't want to answer the door to a stranger! They can be very pushy though, I make my husband talk to them cause he's good at telling them NO, i just stand there and listen cause i'm too shy to say no. lol.
Door to door is a very good thing for business, except when they act like you mentioned. Must be a Florida thing with yalls awesome weather down there.
Other than school kids selling candy or whatever, I haven't had a salesman at my door in years
It helps to answer the door with bloody hands and a bloody kitchen knife. Keeps them from coming back during dinner prep!
cause their probably sick of everybody saying no.
to much competition out there and the fact that they work on commision don't help the residents!
